The buzz emanating from the cosy Ash Street laneway, tucked away from the hustle & bustle of George Street is mostly due to the opening of Merivale's new 140-seat French-inspired bistro, Felix. Its stunning design includes real Parisian subway tiles on the walls, a pewter bar and chandeliers imported from France, as well as an elegant wine bar at the side. The menu showcases Lauren Murdoch's signature modern twist on classic French fare and includes a rotisserie section and oyster bar, as well as bistro classics such as steak frites.

Amazing food, great cocktails and pretty good service. There's something very luxurious about melted herb butter with beautifully cooked medium rare sirloin and nicely crisp fries. Exactly what I expected from a French bistro. I'll be back next time I'm in Sydney.

I had a quick meal here one night with my husband and mother-in-law just after the restaurant had first opened. The staff were amazing and not at all pretentious, and the food was to die for! There's a fabulous wine list and the sommelier couldn't have been more helpful. We really enjoyed the whole experience and the ambience was fabulous. We'll be going back for sure.
