At just over a year in, Rosebud has established itself as one of the best gastronimical hotspots in the ever burgeoning region of Rozelle & Balmain. Named after a quote from a classic 1941 film, Rosebud is a 100 seat restaurant, café & wine bar.

Already famous for its all day breakfasts, particularly on weekends where the whole place is turned over a dozen times, Rosebud is now presenting a new evening concept Middle Eastern in inspiration.

Food dishes have been created to compliment the environment, social & light choices for sharing combined with more substantial dishes, all served mezze style. The menu, which includes traditional dishes from Greece, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria & Turkey has been given a modern Australian twist and is best enjoyed in groups.

Signature dishes include ‘Egyptian quail eggs’ with hazelnut dukkah, sautéed spinach & basterma, ‘Za’taar & honey glazed lamb cutlets’ or the ‘vine wrapped red mullet’.

For snacks, there’s a variety of stone wall flat breads such as the ‘Spinach & sheep’s cheese’ with red onion, sumac and fresh pomegranate to go with traditional dips.

For dessert, the ‘baked Persian love cake’ is to die for. Other options include ‘toffee crusted figs’ or the ‘Muhallabeya’ (milk pudding with pomegranate seeds & pine nuts).

To accompany these dishes, not only is there a cracking wine list but cocktails have been created using Middle Eastern fruits such as pomegranates in the mojito & lychees in the martini.
