Award-winning Pearl is the expression of a commitment to food and wine, to hospitality, and to art and design. It opened in 2001 to immediate critical acclaim. It was awarded Best New Restaurant in the 2002 edition of The Age Good Food Guide, and is widely regarded as one of Melbourne’s best restaurants. In 2006 Pearl received a coveted 3 Chef’s Hats, the highest accolade bestowed to restaurants in Australia. The style is modern and uncluttered, with a single dining room that seats 66, as well as a bar and an outside terrace area that can each accommodate 24.
The ingredients are drawn from all over Australia, and are interpreted with an understanding of the cooking techniques of multi-cultural Australia. Everything in the restaurant and bar – from the menu to the colour scheme, from the wine list to the salt bowls and pepper grinders – has been planned, considered, and evaluated. Good design is integral. For all at Pearl, eating well is a complete experience. The waiters are skilled, the wine list extensive, and the attention to detail never wavers. In the beginning, the name Pearl was chosen because it is the most attainable of precious jewels. The Pearl brand is therefore about a stylish dining experience that is accessible. Now in its 9th year, the brand has grown to include a café just 100metres down the road from restaurant and a catering and events arm of the business. Pearl was recently recognised as the 18th best restaurant in the country by the 2010 Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide and retained it’s 2 hat status for the 4th year running from The Age Good Food Guide. As accolades such as these continue to flow year on year, it proves that this Melbourne icon has lost none of its precious appeal in 10 years of operation.

Pearl Restaurant + Bar
Really lovely place and impressed by both the food and service. Pan fried John Dory was just delicious and my partner loved the Wagyu beef main. I enjoyed the experience and the dessert tasting plate was a sumptuous finale to the night. Menu on an ipad is a novel idea.
