Located at the top end of town, amidst Melbourne’s bustling theatre precinct, Mezzo is a great place for all occasions; from a cocktail at the bar to a pre-theatre meal, an intimate dinner for two or a celebration with family and friends.

Owner Joseph Vargetto’s Sicilian heritage has been “tapping him on the shoulder” for much of his cooking career. Joseph has now taken the plunge towards a distinctly Sicilian offering at Mezzo Bar & Grill. Having also admired the work, passion and style of another Sicilian, Silvio Sgarioto, for many years, Joseph and Silvio became business partners in late 2010 and so the marriage of Mezzo was complete.

The relaxed room boasts a wall-sized image depicting a magnificent Sicilian village with its centuries-old buildings and alleyways. Quirky down lights adorned with little silver spoons create an intimate vibe and the menu is Sicily to a tee, from arancini to house-made pastas, grills and sweet delights including tiramisu made to Nonna’s strict specifications. The wine list features Australian grown Sicilian style wines alongside Sicily’s own unique drops.
