Situated in the Historic are of Woollahra in Sydney, Australia, the Lord Dudley is surrounded by Art Galleries, Harbour Parks, and is just 15 minutes east of the CBD. The pub is on three levels. The basement is for contemporary Australian dining and has a garden bar restaurant. On the ground floor is the Public Bar, Saloon Bar and Lounge area. Upstairs are two more lounges which can booked privately for functions or enjoyed as a quiet alternative to the downstairs hum of activity, with a fully serviced bar. Each level offers its own atmosphere although the old English theme prevails. You can enter the Lounge from the Back Bar or from Quarry Street. Besides the decor, what will hit you is the huge sandstone fireplace at the end wall. Many a romance has started in the comfy sofas surrounding it. Lunch is served in the Lounge between 12am and 3pm while dinner is the reserve of the restaurant downstairs. If the restaurant is booked out for lunch you can generally find a table in the Lounge. The menu, which is written on blackboards every day, is international with a slight British twist. Even more importantly, the prices are better than reasonable. Entrees range from $8.50 to $14.50 and mains from $14.50 to $29.50. All desserts are $12.50. What about a starter of Summer Minestrone Soup ($8.50) or Crispy King Prawns with Sweet Chili Sauce ($14.50)? Maybe follow that with The Lord Dudley famous Crispy Duck with Kuma sauce and Honey Glaze ($26.50) or Whiting Fillets Tempura with Japanese Wasah and Potato Scallops ($25.50) or Osso Bucco with Mash and Peas ($20.50). There is also Thai Chicken Curry and a beautiful Seafood Risotto. Or if you prefer a steak try the Grain Fed Scotch Fillet with Green Beans, Potato Balu and Horseradish Cream. If you still have room for more, finish off with say Baby Pavlova's with marinated Raspberries or Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble. The Lord Dudley's menu is forever changing. You will find something new every time you come back. Booking is recommended.
